Barcelona Article:

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and is the capital of Catalonia. Barcelona is situated on the Mediterranean coast and is quite the vibrant, exciting place to visit one would expect. The Gothic quarter is a wonderful mediaeval part of the old centre of Barcelona and includes many gothic buildings from that time. Architecturally, Barcelona stands tall along with Paris, Rome and London for excuberant architecture and history. Many of the buildings including the "Art Nouveau" are now World Heritage Sites and protected as such. The buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi are especially fantastic and can be seen throughout the city.

Barcelona also has a wide variety of museums to visit including the National Museum of Art of Catalonia which contains Romanesque art. Fundacio Joan Miro, Picasso Museum and Fundacio Antoni Tapies hold many important art collections from these world renowned artists. Also the city has several archealogical museums including the City History Museum to name one.

In the evenings Las Ramblas comes alive with street performers, buskers, artists and many other interesting cultural festivities.
